Dear Paul, I almost totally agree with you, and your expertise in broadcasting, but differ on just one point. I have long felt these obsolete dead long and medium wave frequencies should now be open to all radio enthusiasts who have passed the Radio Amateur theory test (no Morse test now required). That's not from any "snobbish" reasons, but simply that the operators to know how to avoid and understand how a "bad" transmitter can cause widespread interference up into the VHF frequencies and beyond, if there are "parasitic oscillations" being unknowingly generated. My "pessimism" is to put Matt off from doing that economically suicidal LW/MW project. Careful Pirate operation "now and again" on different times and frequencies is how to do it. Pirate radio is the "mode" that the short sighted authorities create. Ofcom actively CREATES Free / Pirate radio with their now out of touch attitude!!!!!
