I remember the project being pitched enthusiastically to Ronan when we were standing together at a Caroline social event. Days later the person doing the pitch said ' well, I have Ronan's blessing '.

In truth Ronan silenced the outpouring of superlatives, by holding up his hand and replied :

I AM NOT REMOTELY INTERESTED

Then there were the below ground generator and transmitter halls and the endless teases about Dr Kabbary's crossed field antenna with updates like ' we can announce that the antenna has passed the testing phase'.
Then the redundant oil rig to be placed in Ramsey Bay as ' Caroline Island ' and finally a mock up of MV Communicator with a CFA on the deck and Caroline 279 signwritten on the hull.
And of course who was going to present the breakfast show. Was Roger Day not an early choice ?
A lot of money raised and spent to no result. I wonder if anyone at all walked away with a decent fee or made a good living while the project staggered on ?
