Some radio engineers say the CFA worked, due to vertical current flow in the structure below it...I agree
If you look, at this Isle of Mann photo, the amount of scaffolding underneath it is huge

Many years ago, when working in the VHF PMR Comms industry, I was asked by another firm to evaluate
something they called "The Miracle Aerial" for Medium wave Car radios, instead of an outside car aerial
(Nothing to do with the Amateur Radio antenna, of the same name)...
They had bought the Patent on it, and were not sure if it was a Con. or a real breakthrough in antenna design...
We were interested in it, for possible VHF applications, so, we heard it working on a car radio, and they gave us one
to evaluate, in our workshop....It was a total Con, So I took the works out of the sample one, and replaced them
with a folded up piece of thin wire, put the Lid back on, and took it to their unit, I said "Try this one"
they plugged it in, yes it works the same as the others, Then I said "Look inside it" He opened it
and said "Oh dear We have been Conned" as my simple piece of wire fell out of the case
He then showed me the Original, that he paid money for, A Piece of ferrite rod, with Multicolour Ribbon cable
soldered round the outside of it, to look impressive, to non techy people
Rogue engineers are still about today, as they were then, making claims, that Con people into believing them
I Know of Two, locally, who are just out to Rip stations off, with complicated techy BS, to relieve them of money
They get found out eventually, but only after they have grabbed the money and run, or run off with equipment as well
Bit like a combination of Del Boy, and Arthur Daley (nice little earner)....Oh dear
