I think there's always some desire to see the clothing that women wear reflect the shape of the female form. We know that the glamour of Dior's New Look was rooted in a historic throwback to narrow shoulders, tiny waistlines, rounded bustline, and those voluminous skirts covering the hips. The Robes de Style referenced the more "feminine" shape of clothes in times past while accepting the current appeal of unstructured clothing.
