not every woman chose to conform to the look of the moment, either for reasons of taste, or body shape. There was certainly blowback to the boyish look in body and fashion. Dresses that were referred to as Robes de Style generally had more natural waistlines, often with softly gathered skirts, and sometimes with an outright "pannier" effect.
