I think one factor in naughty transmitting, is or was the availability of the TXs & parts to create them.
Years ago, in London - there were many great outlets in Tottenham court road, to supply our needs - some advertising in Exchange & mart that Duncan mentions.
In the Early 1980s- my main supplier, was Brian Bamber electronics, in Littleport Cambs.
All long gone now.
