Re: Your first transmitter or broadcast however QRP

I was about 8 years old and living in Forest hill near Crystal palace. My dad told me about the time he built a crystal set as a boy,and would put the headphones in a bowl so everyone could listen. So after a visit to my local library,I picked up a book on Simple electronic circuits.Apart from how to make a crystal set, there was an article on Build your own radio station. So if to my local surplus radio store, plenty of them about then, with a list of components that I needed. What are you building,I showed him the book, why don't you buy the one in the window? It has 3 knobs on the front,on off volume,transmit/receive and tuning.A carbon Mike plugged into one side and a morse code key into the other side. The range was only about 200yards but with the Mike next to the speaker of the family record player I was on the air.I am now in my late 70's and a licence radio ham,do I still dabble? What do you think?
