Hi Rod, really interesting re Howard Rose. I'll always remember him as Crispian St John, no doubt a little nod to Crispian St Peters.I liked his progs on RNI when it came back in 1971 after being paid to stay off the air. Of course he was PD on the Peace Ship, I think the format was actually quite good, and Abe, despite all the criticisms of him, was a really principled human being.

I also remember him on John Kenning's Radio Sovereign when Radio Jackie "discovered" that the authorities couldn't confiscate the gear, leading to 24/7 operation. After a failed attempt to go round the station in Shirland Road, Tim Allen from radio Floss/Duck told us at The Floss meet at The Apollo that he'd been round, so we went round and John kenning showed us round. After this, he turned up on Caroline as Howard Rose, where I saw him onboard The Ross on one of Albert Hood's trips and he rung me up to ask my advice about a different frequency for Caroline when Laser came on air.

I remember KCBC well. I rang up Howard and he I asked if it just covered Kettering and Corby and he replied "Wellingborough too matey!"
