People may recall, for a time in the later half of the 1980s the station Radio West from Mullingar in Eire with a 10kW transmitter on 702kHz.
As far as I am aware this was second only to the original Radio Nova for achieving the greatest mediumwave groundwave coverage of any Irish pirate

But my question - was there any technical controversy about the just 9kHz carrier spacing from the BBC national radio 693kHz channel??
