Just after I was licensed in 1982, I was helping a G2 with his antennas, he recommended it. I still have a jaybeam LR-1 in use from that time. After a good few years service, the top section got bent by a dove trying (and failing) to escape the local sparrow hawk.
I took it down to fix it and while it was down,I decided to upgrade the co-ax. Had to split the tape with a stanley knife. Stuck like a second skin, but peeled off cleanly to reveal a still shiny plug. It suited my purposes so I stuck with it.
