DXer2, Sky Q uses same satellite but yes the LNB on the dish downconverts to different frequencies so it will not work on your old box .
There are some LNBs available that can work with both systems.
the initial question:
Some transponders are more fragile (reception wise) than others . I have recently seen the transponder that carries Now 80s / Now 70s (11082 H) fail to work in heavy rainfall, yet other channels were OK.
