Thanks for the info, I Will give some a try, I have seen lots of installs, especially satellite dishes,
where cheap amalgamating tape has been used, and it has set as one blob, but Not stuck to the actual Connector
so then, what with the huge temperature range outside, in a Hot Summer, right thru to Wind and freezing Ice on it
the water gets under the tape, and corrodes the outer braid away, Also it then gets down thru the "F" plug
and rots the Coax Inner away, and sometimes goes Into the LNB and stops it working
I recently took down a 50 megs Link Antenna, and the Self-Amalmalg. tape was perfect, even after 12 years outside
so some installers do use good tape, It's maybe, How its applied, Stretching it, as you wrap it round the plug
This is essential if you use poor mans Black tape, but that too varies hugely in quality,
some sticky tape struggles to stick to itself! Some is really good, test it by stretching it to see if it breaks easily
Also stopping water corroding things outside, is Important for 5.8 Gig link dishes
where the "LNB" uses Ethernet plug
(because the Entire RX/TX is Inside the unit) so you have 8 pins to get corroded and stop it working
The Ultimate protective tape is Densoplast, In the Industry been nicknamed s**t on a roll, really is messy to use!
but lasts for years, and won't let you down
