Nor are they considered Assault Weapons! AR stand for Armalite the company who developed the rifle not assault weapon like the public thinks.

One pull of the trigger = 1 bullet = semi-automatic!
One pull of the trigger = constant discharge of bullets without stopping till clip empty = automatic!!!!

These are different then the military issued guns.

What is the difference from pre 1960's to today - only difference is that antidepressants and ADHD medications became widely available. Every mass death instance caused by a person has been linked to a few meds that keep coming back up in the records of the person being on those medications or just coming off them. One of the drugs is Concerta which was the first ADHD medication my daughter was put on. We had them switch her off in less than a month because in the evening coming off the medication she would throw herself on the floor having a "psychotic episode" if you looked at her wrong and would smash her head into the floor with all the force she could. I finally got tired of the negative side effects of many of these medications and in 6th grade took her completely off all meds and used alternate methods to deal with her ADHD.

Another issue IMO is the fact the government stepped in and said if you spank your kid you could go to jail thanks to some special snowflakes out there who probably never had kids even. How many generations have now grown up not learning that there are consequences to the choices they make? I was spanked and you don't see me going a shooting some place up. Bet you were spanked and taught to respect others also.

Everyone saying put armed veterans in each school, umm hell no, how many have undiagnosed PTSD? I would rather have a rabid pitbull loose in the school.

I guarantee if the medications and parents stepped up and taught their kids right from wrong and respect it would be half the battle won.

As for video games, movies, tv and such yes some of the video games I hate and do not allow in my house (even includes some of the animal hunting ones). Movies and tv daughter has been taught what is real and what is just fantasy. Parents need to parent their child or they are just as guilty as the child/even adult who shoots up a place and kills people.

I have always believed that the death penalty is not used enough in this country and the way it is used (drugs) does a disservice, put them to death with a firing squad, hang them I don't care. If you plead guilty, no appeals, and put to death within 6 months if not sooner. Those who are found guilty get one appeal and if denied put to death within a year. Enough if this sitting on death row for 20+ years getting a "free ride".
