Lots of looking back with rose tinted glasses here, Caroline in 64 was not that great, but it was the only game in town and far better than the option of the Light programme. When Big L came along at the end of 64 most of the younger audience preferred it, personally I preferred Radio London and also Radio City. By 1968 when RC finally fizzled out, it had few listeners. The 70's era was far better, and since it has only improved further. You can't compare the brief period in the 60's to today. The current output 24/7 with 2 or 3 streams in high quality surpasses anything produced in the 60's.
