Labour were quoted by William Hills at odds of 1-10 to win that election so it was a big shock when The Tories got in. RNI moved to 244 metres afterwards so there wasn't really any excuse to continue the jamming apart from the fact that they didn't want RNI off their coast or their (Ronan's)taunts of Chairman Harold.
It probably made more sense to head back to Holland where they wouldn't be hassled by the government. They didn't factor in Kees Sanders or the bomb attack though.
The UK government have a track record of dirty tricks with interfering with offshore and other broadcasters. Think Caroline 558 in 1990 with Spectrum. Think Veronica 1973/4 with Capital. Think Geronimo 205 in 1970 when World Service left a tone on the adjacent channel.Further back in time they were even reportedly thinking of jamming Radio Normandy at one point
