Yes it was a stupid idea to choose an active emergency channel, not sure who's enlightened choice that was but dumb to say the very least. The coast guard station increased it power ten fold which acted as good jamming! And was the bases that the real jamming was born out of forcing R.N.I to return back to the Dutch coast. They R.N.I 1970 made two fundamental mistakes that of course was using 186m! And also not waiting for the UK general election to take place first! As Labour was never going to win it and they had just seen off the MOA so Labour were not about to allow a rebirth of the same. Its true the Tory's didn't stop the jamming but wouldn't have come up with the idea almost certainly not If a clear channel such as 220m and a little patience was shown it very likely would have seen R.N.I having a nice long run off of the Clacton coast. But the two monumental bad decisions destroyed that chance and what ever history would have happened there after! Its very likely other stations may have been born! So yes 186m and not to wait just a few months killed any reality that may have followed after R.N.I brining free radio back to the UK All rather sad, and I'm sorry but darn stupid too.
