You are a rude man and if you were a friend or someone I respected I may be hurt by your comments. But as you are neither I am not.
To be specific, I started doing jobs for Caroline in the 70's and thus, along with many others, I was breaking the Marine Offences Act and thus risking a £2000 fine and/or two years in prison. I did not want either and so as we all did I chose an alias.
I had two bosses in my day job and one was called Geoff Hurst. But there was a famous footballer of that name and I did not want to draw attention. My other boss had a nice normal name Peter Moore.
Since that time, nearly 50 years have elapsed and Peter has written a small book and many magazine articles and been interviewed on radio and sometimes on TV. Peter has signed many binding agreements and contracts. So the name is long established.
Had I called myself Spangles Muldoon, or Ceasar The Boogeyman or Big Mackenzie Presenter, this may have become in 2025 as silly as Cardboard Shoes or Hairy Cornflake.
Of course Tom Anderson is not Tom Anderson, neither Kevin Turner nor Johnny Lewis nor Tony Allan. Is it your view that we should all revert to our birth names.
I think not as you are just being upleasant for the sake of it and not doing it very well.
As for how other people got their names I will send a follow up when I have time as I cannot make much sense of what Jon Thomas is saying.
