The thing that got me, with the Smart meter installer, was the fact he was fitting smart Gas meters as well
Now Gas, as we all know, is very dangerous, not just the explosion risk, as happened in my town a good while back
What happened was, Bungalow owner, went out to work, soon after, a heavy Artic. lorry needed to drive onto the grass
outside the bungalow, this cracked the early metal gas pipe under the grass, and also the sewer pipe as well
During the day, Gas went up the sewer, via the toilet, and filled the bungalow, as soon as the Gas/Air mix was right
a pilot light I suppose, then set it off, Owner came home, to find just a heap of bricks, was all that was left
Other dangers of Gas are Poisonous fumes from blocked flues, and Gas leak Displacing air, so you suffocate while asleep
Lovely...So it was quite right, that people working on Gas, knew what they were doing (Corgi etc)
Another incident was, a friend of mine had moved house, and asked me, if I could swop the light fitting in his kitchen
Recently he had got British Gas in, to move the boiler, from the room Above the kitchen, to another room upstairs
The wiring to the kitchen light was a bit tight, so I pulled a loose floorboard up, in the room above
Looking for the wire to the light, resulted in a Big Flash!...I then lifted up the other floorboards to discover the cause
When the Boiler was removed, the Spur box cable for the boiler, had just been let go of, and had fallen under the floor
with NO insulation on the ends of the 2.5mm cable, not even a bodge of a bit of sticky tape on the ends
When I disturbed it, it had splashed onto a copper pipe next to it, really dangerous could have caused a fire
Suppose British Gas put workers under pressure, to do so many jobs in a day, they rush things, causing problems like this
I remember telling this, to Plumbers and Gas contractors working on same buildings as me, and they said
Oh yes, they are one of the worse for leaks, things not tightened up properly
This YouTube Video is interesting, once again, caused by a Smart meter installer
