Thanks both for the advice. I this case I think almost all the parts are fragile!
The supplier got back to me very promptly and immediately promised to send replacements so I can get some practice with these and have some spares in case of breakage. Even so, I think I'll be scratch building some bits, not for the usual reason that the kit parts are lacking in detail but to make something a bit more robust!
