On the ones I have done I have always tried to cut away the larger 'feeds' before the small ones. I have found that scoring around the 'point of contact' itself with a new scalpel blade, rather than a single straight cut or clip, reduces the chances of a break of the piece you're trying to separate. I have heard that using a warm blade is also a way of minimising unwanted breakages, but I have not tried this myself.
It might be too late now, but it would be interesting to see the model 'as supplied' print feeds included.
