Re: We'll have a job ...
Sorry everyone, I was basing my assessment on a visit to Rosyth in 2019 (after the Report that Chris posted but before QE was docked when the site looked "very quiet" and the entrance to the Dockyard was surrounded by Developers hoardings advertising industrial site opportunities for businesses. I drove very slowly along the road around the perimeter fence in my campervan (stopping is discouraged) and did not see much dockyard activity until I was by what is nowadays called the Port of Rosyth but was originally a base for submarines and destroyers. Coupled with local TV and radio news reports, I assumed a final decision had been reached on the future of the Yard. Since that 2019 visit, I have been to Portsmouth three times (in 2021 and 2022) and Greenock (2023) and seen the march of progress (or lack of it) and had seen or heard nothing to suggest any of the places in the 2019 report were usable. I suppose I should have placed more faith in Scottish politics and the local MP who had brought the assembly work on the Carriers to the area in the first place....
