: Fair go, Pete.
:
: The Church is very explicit about the
: incompatibility of the Catholic Faith
: (Christianity) and New Ageism citing it's
: Gnostic underpinnings...
:
: Clearly Spalding was writing, and in fact
: died, before 'New Ageism' so aligning him to
: that movement is a matter of opinion and I
: don't think it is safe to condemn a writer
: on the say-so of Wikipedia.
Sorry my sources weren't high enough standard for you. Perhaps "ascended master Jesus" is more acceptable and authoritative" ??..
"There is a reason why you, and so many other spiritual seekers, have found the “Life and Teachings” books to be very inspiring. There is a reason why these books have been popular with spiritual seekers for many decades and are still popular today. The reason is that the books do contain authentic teachings about the universal spiritual path that transcends all religions. The books also contain authentic teachings about the existence of the ascended masters, as a group of spiritual beings dedicated to the spiritual growth of humankind. The books can therefore serve as a tool for awakening the inner memory that most spiritual seekers carry with them at a lifestream level."

: Spalding may
: have been 'taken up' by demonstrably 'New
: Age' writers, but that's not his fault.
His beliefs and practices are also New Age belief and practices. That's the fault. The name for these erroneous beliefs and practices may change over time but the same errant thinking and behaviour is expressed.
: If you have a problem with Alex's quote, it
: would be better to specify what the problem
: is rather than engage in a kind of 'post hoc
: ad hominem'.
My problem is the "inner voice" referred is quite possibly "ascended master Jesus" or some other demonic entity.
:
: Interestingly, Freemasonry, which you seem
: eager to defend, is also shown to be deeply
: Gnostic.
:
: Clearly Alex doesn't share your views about
: Freemasonry, Pete, but I see no evidence
: that he's 'eager to defend' it.
:
I guess that's a "matter of opinion".
Pete
