I hope I an not just nit-picking, but I'd like to clear up one final point, namely, that it was not Wood at whom I addressed the 'we have enough "Catholics"' remark. It was Larry Chapp. From my first post:In passing, Larry Chapp's "interviews" seem to be as much lecture as interview, and none too worthwhile at that, paricularly when he suggests Catholicism could learn from lots of other religions how to dumb its doctrines down. Thanks, Larry, but we've already got enough "Catholics" ready to do that for us.
As far as Wood is concerned, I sincerely hope he manages to keep oriented. I have no objection to theologians investigating heresies. Indeed, that's obviously an integral part of the job, but Wood uses the term "speculating", and that raised my caution radar, because I have known too many friends who have speculated and virtually departed.
With best wishes that your guarded prognosis eventuates happily.
