When in 1960 Radio Veronica started to broadcast to the Netherlands its signal was jammed and every effort made to silence the station.In 1964 Rem island was raided by the Dutch authorities and its radio and TV stations put out of action.Yet in 1966 when the Mi Amigo needed to go in for repairs Holland was deemed to be a safe destination. At what point did offshore radio become tolerated by the Dutch authorities.I find it hard to imagine that back in 1960 the owners of Veronica would have believed that it would survive until 1974 bearing in mind how swift other countries had been to silence their offshore stations.
