Not particularly high local noise, I get other stations well; it is something with the radiation pattern of the Tx antenna, the signal was audible during the recent transmitter change when they were on the other aerial. You are a bit further south than me, the signal nulls out roughly in line with the Western Avenue (A40), so it's not the distance so much as a specific direction.
