Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, the major RSLs were run by people who had both the technical knowledge and the proper equipment—and the results spoke for themselves. Sadly, this latest attempt to revive Radio Mi Amigo seems plagued by the same problems as Tony’s previous ventures: poor audio quality, amateur-level presenters, frequent dead air, and constant buzzing and hissing. Even the antenna tells the story—held up with bits of wood. Nothing about the setup looks professional; it all feels like a bodge job.
I genuinely feel sorry for the real pirate presenters who’ll end up wasting their time and money driving to Harwich just to help keep this fake flame flickering.
Frankly, it’s surprising Ofcom have allowed this to go ahead, given their usual standards regarding transmitters and approved equipment.
Real stuff
