Well-known examples of the flexidisc are the excellent Sound of the Stars to launch Disc & Music Echo at Easter 1966, which Radio Caroline played no small part in!). It is possible to press 'audio grooves' into materials such as cardboard, especially if lacquered to give a more robust and resilient surface. The main companies were Lyntone and 'Sound for Industry'. Most of the business was replaced by cheap CD copies in the 1990s.
