I apologise for not keeping my eye on the ball recently. I've been up in the fjords on Borealis and the ship's internet was a bit problematic what with all those mountains.
For anyone interested, the Norwegian government has enabled legislation which effectively bans all cruise ships from the fjords from 2026 UNLESS THEY PRODUCE ZERO EMISSIONS. Does such a ship actually exist? This ban is already in place at Flåm.
I disembarked a 8:00 this morning and had to face chaos worse confounded at the Southampton cruise terminals. Our berth at the City Terminal got bumped by the awful Celebrity Apex 130,818 GRT and the Horizon terminal got blagged by the truly horrendous MSC Virtuosa 181,541 GRT.
Poor old Borealis at a mere 61,000 GRT got shunted off to the decrepit Mayflower terminal. Complete chaos as 10,000 cruisers milled about looking for tour buses and guides. Since my car was parked at City Cruise Terminal, I had the pleasure of an early morning three quarter mile stroll through the milling throngs, dragging two cases.
Complete grid lock along Herbert Walker Avenue but I escaped thanks to a friendly ABP geezer who expressed me through a service gateway.
The scene of the action. It will be different by tonight.
