Re: wms/LJ scale"
John, twenty years ago Les Hodder of Wirral Miniature Ships used to paint Len Jordan castings to sell at ship shows. As time went on, Alan Hodder cast some of the more modern ships at Ellesmere Port to help Len out. Some of the ship models were made by Len at Les's request (Waratah was one of those). Mike Costello compiled a book of all possible ships that could be made from Len's kits and Les Hodder provided details of the ships and their liveries for that and for Len's data sheets. When Len had a stroke and lost the sight of one eye, most of the master models and moulds went to Wirral and Alan Hodder cast nearly all the kits from then onwards. At very least Alan repaired some of the masters and made new moulds under licence and some of these may have been created from castings because I have some kits where the hulls were shorter than ones that I had bought directly from Len years before.... M88 King Charles (1957) may well be a model that was created by the involvement of many hands (Les's trademark was to paint the underside all over with the waterline colour) and from what I have said here and elsewhere all aspects of the description could be true. If it is for sale on ebay and you want a definitive answer, ask the current owner to measure the hull and work the scale out for yourself.
