Making masters for Fleetline in the 60/70s we had to use brass to make them because of the heat and pressure to press the moulds. having to add 4% to all measurements to accurately make the master to allow for shrinkage. With todays soft moulds you are able to use plasticard masters. As technology moved along in Bill Gilpens time he used to make a plastic master cast with a soft durex type mould to cast a metal production master to go into a production mould which in the 80s still required heat and pressure so he had to allow for two lots of metal shrinkage when making his masters. Todays soft moulds make casting so much easier. Sadly the skill of making a model goes out the window as tecnology mooves on with RP
