Not trying to outdo anyone but my '43 copy of T-B's 'Merchant Ships' (and a number of 'Jane's Fighting Ships' of similar vintage) were rescued from a skip at Papplewick Pumping Station some years back. If I hadn't found them they would (more than likely) ended up in the boiler 'firebox' soon after. I did pay a 'sensible' price for them.

Unfortunately too much material 'of interest' has suffered a similar fate.
