The one we had at Incremental station KCBC in Kettering was a 9100
Didn't the 9000 use different center freqs on the Multiband, will have to look it up
Orban also made a 9100B, which was an AM stereo version !
As I used to Build amps and Pre-amps, for West Indian Discos, (they called Sound Systems)
with a few tweaks, got the 9100 sounding better, than the Local AM ILR at Northampton
The bits to get right, in the Pre-Equaliser, are the bass peak freq. and bandwidth(Q) setting
Although the 9100 is a Balanced Transformer output, they Ground the Center Tap, which can cause Hum loops
It also has Adjustable Pre-emphasis, not just amount, but can set freq. where the pre-emp comes in
Could never figure out, why Orban, when they made the 8100 FM version, only made it a two band
Yes, they did a Multiband for it later, but it's in a separate housing, that plugs into the 8100
Clever Orban design in that era yes, but modern digital Processors, have much better noise performance
the kit from that era, used some noisy OP amp IC's, that would need changing for better modern types
and of course, the Electrolytic caps, would by now need changing, especially the power supply ones
if anyone was thinking of using one of these 'retro' units on air, Alright as a spare suppose
