So I prefer the version of this Mother Teresa quote going:
"If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway".
But then, among others, there's 1 Corinthians 13:4 - Love is patient and kind.
Upon investigation kind here is a translation of the Greek “χρηστεύεται” (chresteuetai), an active verb which comes from the adjective “chrestos”, which in turn comes from another verb, “chrao”. “Chrao” means “to furnish/provide what is needful”
Which is kind of perfect.
