Oh, he’s a bad man, that Roberto de Mattei. Now, it might ordinarily be regarded as argumentum ad hominem to say he is a bad man and therefore one should treat his arguments and assertions with contempt, but that doesn’t apply in this case. Hell, no! You see, he isn’t from the Left. That’s what makes the difference.
I mean, everyone knows we’re just smart monkeys – just look at some of the people around you. And, of course, not being from the Left, he just doesn’t get political correctness – I mean, you can’t have people going around telling the truth about various issues for fear of pricking consciences and making some people feel uncomfortable.
And, worst of all, he still believes that the Church didn’t start at Vatican II, but has been in existence for two millennia, during which time it assembled a highly cohesive body of doctrine based firmly on Scripture and Tradition. More enlightened folk understand that all that old stuff had to be discarded if we were ever to enter a period of compliance with the world.
Oh, he’s a bad man, that Roberto de Mattei; let’s not give credence to anything he says. He’s bad, bad, bad!
