: Here's a link to Archbishop Martin's comments
: on the abortion debate published in
: Ireland's most popular national newspaper:
:
:
: https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/abortion-referendum/abortion-vote-is-not-a-matter-of-private-choice-but-of-common-good-says-archbishop-martin-36883965.html
:
: The Irish media has been airing the views of
: both sides with a willingness to inform the
: voting public on the merits of the pro, and
: anti abortion lobbies.
Laoise Ní Dhubhrosa, of London Irish United for Life would disagree...
Laoise "... told the Catholic Herald: “This is a very worrying development. Our experience has been that traditional media in Ireland is extremely biased against the pro-life position; most of the Irish newspapers have an editorial stance in favour of repealing the Eighth Amendment."
: It is clear that the Irish clerical abuse
: scandals over the past forty years have
: compromised the influence of the Irish
: hierarchy, and local clergy. The days when
: the Catholic Church influenced Irish voters,
: to vote according to pulpit directions has
: ended.
:
Sad when people can't separate the truthfulness of moral prescriptions from the moral failure of some individuals teaching said prescriptions. If there's a corrupt cop or judge we don't say laws are invalid or wrong but people seem willing to do this in the case of the Catholic Church ?? Odd...
