It’s great to be here in Atlanta for Peaches & Panache! Today, there was an optional tour that included stops at SCAD to see the Madame Gres exhibition and the Atlanta History Center, with a behind the scenes tour of the AHC’s fashion and costume collection. My fabulous sister and I arrived this evening, so we missed the tour, but everyone raved over Madame Gres’s gowns. I can’t wait to see what Sandra created for Gene!
On to the event . . . It seemed that many attendees gravitated to the bar before the doors opened at 7pm. 😉 It was fun to chat and re-connect with friends I hadn’t seen for so long.
When the doors opened, we were greeted by Sandra—and Sue Conner’s absolutely amazing diorama!
Perfect for Atlanta, don’t you think? Especially since tonight’s theme was the premiere of Gone With the Wind.
There were three fashions displayed tonight (more on that below).
The first fashion is a Norell design, intended for last year’s Indy event—but it fits in perfectly with the movie premiere theme. Honestly, this fashion is gorgeous. The feathers on the skirt are amazing, and there are crystals hand sewn into the dress.
The second fashion is a recreation of the coat that Margaret Mitchell wore to the premiere of GWTW! Attendees of today’s tour saw the original coat!
Then this stunning gown based on the dress Vivian Leigh wore to the premiere of GWTW. Here’s a close-up showing the hand embroidery:

Here’s a shot of the ballroom:
And the lovely centerpieces:
If you recognized these from last year’s convention, you would be right! Attendees of the Indy convention received this two piece set in black sequins. These variations were beautiful.
The table was decorated with Patsy’s miniatures, all consistent with the GWTW theme:
