Re: BBC set official date for shutdown of 198 longwave

Arqiva own and maintain the transmitters. The BBC announced in 2012 they'd be closing longwave, came to an agreement with the electricity companies that they'd pay most the costs of running/maintaining the transmitters in the mid 2010's, originally in 2020, then extended with the electricity companies now paying virtually all of them. In 2023 the electricity companies were paying £5 million. They will have decided to stop paying this June. They'd said earlier this year that radio teleswitch would stop later this year.
