After his rise to power he persecuted leftists, socialists and political critics resulting up to 3,000 executions, 80,000 internments and the torture of ten of thousands.

Nor were Hitler, Mussolini and Franco. There are many other examples.

In 1991 Ronan had talks with Cuba and Equatorial Guinea about getting a broadcast licence and registration for the Ross Revenge, both countries did not permit free speech and had poor human rights records.
