This is a characteristic of DSP radios with mechanical tuning I have used. The MW tuning is in 9kHz jumps, so if you take it to the USA, it will not be possible to tune in most AM stations properly with their 10kHz steps (contrary to what you might think with a dial tune radio!)

There may be a selection on the circuit board or somewhere else for 9 or 10 kHz steps on MW
