Good luck with the new venture, there are so many radio stations out there, I believe you now have to focus on a narrow bunch of people and hope that whoever catches the bug will listen. Plus advertising to a narrow audience that has brand loyalty makes sense to me.
The advertiser knows the audience as well as this audience there will also be crossover stuff. Makes business sense to me.
The problem on here is that most have brand loyalty to Caroline as we grew up with it. But it's narrow core audience base will help it's survival and they can reach out to a new audience because they have loyal brand listeners who will advertise the station.
Same goes for Rugby League. It's not my bag I prefer union, but there are a number of players who joined the league game as it flows better than Union. Straight away your advertising to another group. Plus with the rock music, plays up to that hardman image. Plus it is very community based and again will attract from outside the core support.
Plus there's nothing wrong with expanding on the positives even if it's not believed by either a cynical, or more wiser folk.
Good luck Rob and keep reinventing yourself, after all we're all heading in the same direction so enjoy the moment as nothing lasts forever,
Steve
