Re: London MW pirate 819kHz - The Edge - 10W VMOS FET - Walthamstow tower block - quarter wave aerial
The Edge came from Simla House, Weston Street, London Bridge, just behind Guys hospital. The antenna was a quarter wave dropped from the top and the bottom trapped in a window of the maisonettes down below. The signal was so strong you could sit on the beach at Brighton and listen on a cheap portable. Programmes were linked to the block on VHF from a midpoint near Catford. Myers, Fuller and Co seemed to lose interest, as dead air was going out for weeks and then the aerial snapped and it was never heard again. The rig had a 2SK135 VMOS FeT in PA, driven by a CMOS divider chip. Rumour has it that the rig found it's way in to other stations hands. Ray
