I have to agree with David & Roger. To me the organisers & stallholders for this (or any other) event will have expended a lot of time & treasure (not to forget lack of sleep) in the ‘run-up’ period to the show. I do think its rather unfair to expect them (organisers and dealers?) to produce lists of what they’ll be bringing to the event. As Roger says, you can’t bring all of your stock to an event and again, not everyone will be interested in the lists, which gives those with them an unfair advantage.

(I recall that 30 or so years back, when UK shows could attract 150 – 200 collectors nobody seemed to mind not having lists – they just went through the dealers ‘fruit boxes’ and bought what they wanted).

Roger has mentioned the cost of attending shows – I would have loved to have had a table (or three) at Kassel but it just wasn’t to be.

We have the Lincoln Show coming up in eight weeks time – a long established event with some eight (or so) reputable dealers – well I think they’re all reputable – and there are people there who are very knowledgeable about ‘ships & the sea’ & models.

In late September the WSS organise the ‘North-West Ship Show’ in Liverpool – another ‘Good Do’ with good booksellers, lots of large scale models, lots of ephemera, a good ‘butty bar’, lots of nice people & at least three reputable ‘mini-ship’ dealers.

I hope you can support either of these events.
