I would think it would be most unusual if a car or a station wagon (I don't know what you folks in the UK call them) were not found on Yorktown or any other carrier for that matter. It was probably a Navy owned sedan assigned to Captain Buckmaster or Rear Admiral Fletcher. Most likely the latter.
