Re: HMS Bulwark, steam catapults?
Thanks, I know that Centaur had a part-modernisation refit in 1956, which included the upgrade of catapults to steam. As a result of Suez, in which Bulwark acted in part as a helicopter carrier, I understand that this was where the idea for Commando Carriers came from. As such, and again an assumption, the modernisation programmes for Albion and Bulwark were cancelled and new designs were authorised to do the conversion to the hicolopter (sic) role. I just wasn't sure if the latter vessels had been converted to steam catapults at any other stage. Thanks for the confirmaton. Mike
