Orama was lead ship in a class of five completed 1924 - 1929, Black hulls; Orama trialled new corn colour in early 1935 but reverted to black leaving the newer Orient liners to use corn. All five became troopships in 1940 and one (Otranto) an assault ship in 1942. She survived the war as did Orontes.
