I have a number of models that were made by Pedestal for certain and several others that were painted in the same very dark grey and made up from Len Jordan kits too although the resin used for these models is unusually brittle compared to other Len Jordan's from that time. Most of my Pedestal-made models were bought from Michael Hayes at Theale and the first seven were:
Almeria Lykes
Brisbane Star
Deucalion
Dorset
Glenorchy
Melbourne Star
Wairangi
Michael told me that I had missed the other major ships from the Pedestal Convoy by a few minutes, so I bought a Pedestal-made model of
Hector on the same day. I asked Michael if he could get the missing merchantmen for the Convoy from the same source so at the next Theale I got:
Clan Ferguson and a message that there would be no more because Mr Pedestal had got a new job and had no time to make models.
Since that time I have bought a number of second hand models that appear to have been made by the same hand and been labelled in the same way underneath before painting and these are:
Empire Rainbow
Patroclus
Relvister
Rapana.
I have never seen Orari and all the other gaps I have been able to cover have been bought from Len Jordan or Santa Rosa or Ohio that I bought from Wirral. I bought an Ohio from Len too and converted it to Kentucky and adapted my Burning Oil-Slick to match photographs of the ship dead in the water under attack from the Italian cruisers. I'll post a photograph of that model on Coastlines website when I get round to re-building the website but I can email a copy to anyone who can't wait for me to get a round tuit!
