In about 2008, I was called at home and asked if I would go into Antics shop in Stroud to help a man from Gloucester obtain a Neptun model of HMS Eagle that he had been on when she was sunk. He told me that he was 82 but he was giving talks to local groups and U3A meetings about Pedestal Convoy and his experiences and wanted a model of Eagle to illustrate his talk. We had to order the model from Germany and he came in again to collect it. I understand that he had been picked from the water after the sinking by an escort vessel that returned with some of the survivors to Gibraltar
while escorting the capital ships.
