In the even further north for me it was Macewans 80/- or MacLays (sadly no lo ger an independent brewery) pale ale.
Cans of MacEwans export or Tennant lager with the girls on the side of the can were popular for Carry Outs it was 10pm closing in those days.
I must have managed to spare some beer money from time to time
