For local interest, a major (if not the only? - Happy to be corrected) producer of twin 4" was Marshalls of Gainsborough. In 1940 they had an order from the Admiralty for the production of six per month.
(Amongst other things, Marshall's also built X craft, which were removed from the factory using the LNER Doncaster breakdown crane)
