Galveston is the same as the 1/600 version, which of course means that it is not Galveston but rather Manchester with two Terrier launchers in place of the aft most 6" gun mounts. Washington will be minus it catapults. Hornet will be Shangri La, and Dewey will be a DL2 class with a Terrier in place of the aft most 5" Frog Eye.
The others may be of some interest though, the AKA and APA, if they follow the 1/600 scale prototype will be OK, maybe even an OK Plus. It might be interesting to see what they do with the CAG. Looks like they might just get a missile boat nearly right.
Regardless if this set meets or exceeds my limited expectations, I will be using a new (for me) brand of paint by Mission Models a firm based in California. I have used them with great success on my Team Yankee and Flames of War armor in 1/100 scale, and their line has all the basic USN colors as well including both the wartime and modern version of Haze Grey, a really nice hull red, a flight deck blue, and others. Thing I like about them is they brush extremely well, and am told they air brush quite well too. No need to add any thinner, when brush painting, and the finish is flawless. In fact it looks like the model has been sprayed. Don't know if that brand is available in the UK, but it sure is special, beats Vallejo, and you know how much I love Vallejo paints.
